"Reviving a community that is probably better off dead"

Betting Increased

Betting is now limited from 10-20 points. Four teams are remaining from the original six, so keep playing your matches so we can bring season 1 to a close before the communities short attention span wanders off. When the tournament is finished we can polish out any rough areas and begin season two. Good luck.

Ante Up

So far, good job to everyone in the tournament. We've had very few problems and I think its been a success as far as adding a purpose to scrimming. Check the Match History every now and then to help keep it accurate. Right now I'm doing all the scores manually, and being human, I am prone to the occasional mistake. So double checking match results will prevent errors from compounding. Because if its been a while, no one's going to remember and you'll just be out of luck. We're two weeks in now, so I think its time to raise the bar. The minimum and maximum wagers will be increased 5 points. Betting is now limited from 5-15 points.

The skill-level of each clan does vary greatly, but don't be afraid to lose a few points. All but one team is going to be eliminated eventually, so there is no reason to delay the inevitable. In other words, "if your not first, your last". Once eliminated you can continue scrimming and practicing to improve your team for the next season. Because once the tournament is over, then a new one will begin. This isn't the one and only tournament that will forever decide who is the best SK clan. Its an on-going event to spice up our scrims with some competition.

Additional Teams

I would like to welcome our two newest teams, Prodigy and Team Random. Things are progressing smoothly and it looks like we're going to have some good competition. The tournament has officially started, so scrim away and don't forget that the winning team must report the match afterwards. Remember, ALL scrims between participating clans are SKG matches and count for a minimum of 1 point (this ensures that all matches, no matter how big or small count towards a bigger picture).

Kick OFF

The initial teams participating will be FSS, TFD, DV, and HOS. This should provide a good match variety while keeping the tournament small and manageable. To promote an even playing field, and give clans an equal opportunity to scrim each other, I will be creating an SKG steam group. This should open the communication between participating clans and since its integrated in steam it should be no additional inconvenience. I will invite each clan leader, who will then invite each member of their team. Before, two clans could be looking for a scrim, but be unable to see each other through steam. Hopefully this extra networking will remove that barrier and increase the frequency of SKG scrims.

Introduction

The official scrim, along with scoutzknivez's competitive nature has been dead for a while. In hopes of reviving this competitive edge, I'm introducing the ScoutzKnivez Gamble. The SKG integrates our everyday scrims into an on-going tournament.

Officials added pressure to a scrim, which made it more fun, but this was also its flaw; No one wanted to official unless they had their best players. The official vs. the fun scrim leads to the question, "How do you define a team as being better than another?". Do you only look at their top players (official scrims) or is it a matter of overall win consistency (fun scrims)? This tournament incorporates a betting system which combines both types of scrims. This not only defines more accurately who is better, but it adds a little more fun to a boring game.

Each team starts out with a certain amount of points. Before the scrim, each clan wagers their allotted points based on the match up. This allows the weight of the scrim to be adjusted dynamically; incorporating both skill relativity between teams and the risk you're willing to take. Wagering more points ensures a bigger reward along with a harsher punishment. The tournament continues until all but one team runs out of points.

To ensure the stability of the tournament; only active, stable clans are invited to participate. It will retain the authenticity of scoutzknivez (first to 16 matches) along with its casual style of play (no scheduled match times, deadlines, demos, or screenshots). The SKG will give a pulse to the everyday scrim while helping to refresh a dieing community.
